Book Tag: Harry Potter

I did this Harry Potter tag in honor of the fact that my husband is currently reading the series for the very first time! It was super fun, and I encourage anyone who wants to try it to consider themselves tagged! Check out Pottermore to be sorted into your house, find your Patronus, get your wand, and have lots more HP fun!

What house are you in?

Ravenclaw. I’ll be honest, I kind of wanted to get into Slytherin because it’s cool, but Ravenclaw was a close second.  I’ve always thought Gryffindor is a bit cliché and the house that everyone wants to be in.

What is your Patronus?

A Manx Cat! I am super happy about this one because, if you know anything about me, you know I LOVE cats!

What is your wand?

What would be your Boggart?

A huge, life-sized scorpion. Or even a regular sized scorpion. Or maybe a tornado. Or someone trying to inflict medieval torture on me. Or…

What position would you play in Quidditch?

Ha, I probably wouldn’t play Quidditch. I’ve never been a big fan of sports, so I’d probably just go to the games to socialize.

Would you be pure-blood, half-blood, or muggle-born?

I would probably be a half-blood because my mom is just as obsessed with HP as I am, but my dad doesn’t really care about it that much. But really, who knows?

What job would you want after graduation at Hogwarts?

Probably a professor at Hogwarts, though I’m not sure what subject I’d teach. I just think it would be really fun to stay at the school even after graduating.

Which of the Deathly Hallows would you choose?

The Invisibility Cloak because obviously. I would love to be able to sneak around and spy on people. Plus, it would be handy for those days we all have when you just want to be invisible.

Favorite and least favorite books?

Favorite: The Prisoner of Azkaban. I loved this one so much because so many awesome characters are introduced: Professor Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Buckbeak are four that I can think of off the top of my head. They are all three so integral to the rest of the series, and I love both Lupin and Sirius and the relationships that they have with Harry.

Least Favorite: The Goblet of Fire. I don’t dislike this story per se, but it’s my least favorite of the seven. This is when the series starts to get darker and Harry’s participation in the Triwizard Tournament stressed me out. Plus, he and Ron are on the outs for a lot of the book, which was frustrating. And then, of course, the ending… ALL OF THE FEELS!

Favorite and least favorite film?

Favorite: The Sorcerer’s Stone. I know a lot of people probably don’t like this one that much because it’s the first and the kids’ acting wasn’t as good, but I loved it. It’s the one that started it all and I have so many memories of watching it when I was little. Plus, I think the actor who played Dumbledore in the first two movies was actually Dumbledore. The actor who was in movies 3-8 just wasn’t that good.

Least Favorite: The Chamber of Secrets. The reason why this is my least favorite movie honestly comes down to the fact that the snake FREAKS ME OUT every time I watch it.

Favorite character?

I have several. I love Hermione because I used to want to be her. I love Hedwig because she was just so loyal and sweet. And I love Sirius because he was such a good person and was there for Harry in a way that no one else really was.

Least/Most hated character?

The character that I’m “supposed” to hate but didn’t is Draco Malfoy. I never really hated him, though I definitely didn’t like him. He is just a kid born into a terrible family and he just does what he was taught to do. He just never really bothered me as a character.

Favorite Hogwarts teacher?

Professor Remus Lupin. He was just such a good teacher, person, and mentor to Harry.

Least favorite teacher at Hogwarts?

Professor Dolores Umbridge, obvi. She is just such a terrible person and teacher. She is a particularly scary villain too because she is so sickly-sweet to everyone, even when she’s doing something horrible. For some reason, that’s scarier than a villain who knows he’s a villain, like Voldemort.

Do you have an unpopular opinion about the series?

I’m not sure if this is necessarily an unpopular opinion exactly, but I don’t really think that Harry and Ginny fit together as a couple. I didn’t mind Ron and Hermione together (I love the friends to lovers trope), but I just felt like the relationship between Harry and Ginny kind of came out of nowhere. But I do love how Harry and Ron are brothers-in-law!
