Fear is one of the most common reasons why we might not do something; it’s only natural. But that doesn’t mean that our “fight or flight” reaction is always right. Sometimes we need to stay and fight, even when it scares the heck out of us. Actually, if it’s scary, it might be just the thing to do.

We all have our struggles and limits, and they aren’t the same as everyone else’s. What that person you follow on Instagram is able to accomplish might not be possible for you. But don’t let that cause you to forget that you have your own unique set of gifts and talents that you bring to the table. No, you can’t do everything. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.

Success doesn’t mean that you make a lot of money (although, that sure helps). Success doesn’t mean that you’re famous (that just sounds stressful). Success really boils down to this: do you like what you do and who you are when you do it? If you answered “yes” to both of those, I’d say you’re pretty dang successful.

On occasion, you might find yourself comparing your life and successes to someone else’s and wondering where you went wrong. Why doesn’t my life look like theirs? Where I’m at in my life is lame; I should be further along by now. Sound familiar? Yeah, me, too. But the thing that I guarantee you’re forgetting in times like these is that you’re not someone else. You’re you. Your life isn’t their life. It’s yours. You have had obstacles and struggles that they haven’t had and couldn’t possibly understand. And considering all that, you’ve still accomplished all this?! Go you!

This is such an important thing to remember! Sometimes, we look back and remember a time when we thought that our lives would be heading in a very different direction. But it’s also often true that the things we thought we wanted were never meant for us. And that’s okay — actually, it’s probably for the best.
