Proofreading

What is Proofreading?

Proofreading is usually the final step in the editing process. For an essay or blog post, this means that the writer has already edited their work for major issues concerning the thesis, main idea, introduction/conclusion, organization, and use of resources. Proofreaders are primarily responsible for finding errors, both big and small.

While proofreading, I check for:

  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Word choice &usage
  • Sentence structure
  • Typos
  • Spelling
  • Overall consistency (numbering, font, formatting, etc.)
  • Repetition
  • Style (MLA, APA, CMoS)

My Process & Rates

Once you’re ready to get started, send me an email with a brief summary of what type of project you’d like for me to proofread. I’ll get back to you within 48 hours with a predicted total and estimated turnaround time for your project.

Once we agree, you’ll send me your work as an unprotected Microsoft Word document (only MS Word documents will be accepted). I  will show all edits in the Microsoft Word Track Changes feature.

I charge by the hour within the Editorial Freelancers Association standards. I accept payments via check, Venmo, or PayPal. To make it easier on you, I accept payment in installments, but I won’t return the completed work until I’ve received all payments.
